We visited the beautiful Pirin Golf & Country Club, located about 2 hours from Bulgaria’s capital Sofia.
When we got out of the airport, our driver was ready to take us to the hotel.
This resort is located close to the famous ski resort of Bansko, surrounded by high, tree-covered mountains.
The resort, which operates as a ski resort during the winter months, is open to golfers between April 1 and the end of October.
All-Inclusive experience with golf and stunning nature
During our visit, we played all 23 holes of the course. The 18 holes are located in the open park-like landscape in front of the impressive clubhouse. In the pine forest, at the back of the clubhouse, are the last 5 holes, the Pines Course, and the large practice area, which in addition to the driving range also has a putting green, practice bunkers and putting area.
The course was in super good condition here in early June. The greens and fairways were good. However, it is recommended to keep the ball outside the rough, which is dense and soft grass where the ball can easily hide.
The 23 holes allow the course to be played in several different combinations and provide some variety during your stay.
You can’t help but be impressed by the surrounding landscape. The towering mountains provide a truly impressive backdrop and backdrop from every hole on the course.
We had a beer in the clubhouse after the rounds and the clubhouse is also All-Inclusive on drinks and snacks to eat mid-afternoon.
The golf course is about 1 km from the hotel and there is a free transfer between the hotel and the golf course. It works really well and takes golfers back and forth whenever you want. You can leave your golf bag in the clubhouse so you don’t have to take it back and forth from the hotel.
Cozy hotel with beautiful rooms
The hotel has 12 standard rooms and 38 superior rooms, with the option to upgrade to family, junior suite or superior suites.
We stayed in a superior room. The standard and superior rooms are basically the same. The difference is that the superior rooms are located on the 1st – 4th floor and thus have a small balcony and somewhat better views. Spending the extra money on these rooms is highly recommended.
The rooms, like the rest of the hotel, are cozy with lots of wood. The hotel is most reminiscent of an Austrian ski hotel.
In addition to the rooms at the hotel, it is also possible to get 2- or 3-bedroom apartments.
Spa, wellness and dining experiences
After a day on the golf course, you can visit the large spa and wellness center. In addition to the large indoor pool, you’ll find everything your heart desires in wellness. There are also three outdoor pools that are heated to between 30-32 degrees throughout the year.
With All-Inclusive it is possible to eat and drink at the 9 different restaurants and bars located in the hotel and the surrounding area.
In addition to the buffet restaurant, which serves buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, you can try classic Greek dishes at the Octopus restaurant or at Casa di Pasta for delicious Italian cuisine. After dinner you can enjoy a drink or beer at the bar before heading to bed.
A destination that positively surprises
There is no doubt that Pirin Golf & Country Club is a positive experience. The hotel, service, food and golf are all very good. Definitely high value for money.
This area stands out from many of our other golf destinations as the peak season here is between May and September.
With five weekly direct flights from Copenhagen, it doesn’t get much easier.
With golf greetings from Peter Larsen
